Wednesdays Question

25 comments:
It's Wednesday so that means it's question time. There isn't a right or wrong answer to this question as everyone has different opinions on any given issue.

So here's this weeks question: Most of us have had more than one job during our lifetime. What has been your favorite job? Why?

Little Morris

Mrs. Applebee, the 6th grade teacher, posed the following problem to one of her arithmetic classes:

"A wealthy man dies and leaves ten million dollars.

One-fifth is to go to his wife, one-fifth is to go to his son, one-sixth to his butler, and the rest to charity. Now, what does each get?"

The Mirror

22 comments:
Legend has it that there is a coffee bar in New York where, in the Ladies Room there is a very special mirror. If one stands in front of the mirror and tells the truth one is granted a wish.

However, if one tells a lie *poof* you are instantly swallowed up by the mirror, never to be seen again.

Proverbs - Part I

20 comments:
A first grade teacher collected well-known proverbs. She gave each child in her class the first half of a proverb and asked them to come up with the remainder of the proverb. It's hard to believe these were actually done by first graders. Their insight may surprise you. While reading these keep in mind that these are first graders...

Better to be safe than - punch a 5th grader.

British Hospitality

22 comments:
An American tourist in London decides to skip his tour group and explore the city on his own. He wanders around, seeing the sights, and occasionally stopping at a quaint pub to soak up the local culture, chat with the lads, and have a pint of Guinness.

After awhile, he finds himself in a very high class neighborhood... big, stately residences... no pubs, no stores, no restaurants, and worst of all... NO PUBLIC RESTROOMS.

More Suthenism's

Put 100 Southerners in a room and half of them will discover they're related, even if only by marriage.

In the South,y'all is singular, all y'all is plural.

Southerners know grits come from corn and how to eat them.

Only a Southerner knows the difference between ahissie fit and aconniption fit, and that you don't "HAVE" them, you "PITCH" them.

Only a Southerner knows how many fish, collard greens, turnip greens, peas, beans, etc., make up "a mess."

Kauai

27 comments:
In 1985 I visited Kauai for five days and fell in love with it's beauty. When I returned on this cruise I felt exactly the same. Hubby said it was indeed the most beautiful island. We have plans to return at some point and spend a month during the winter, that way we can explore every aspect of this gorgeous island.

Valentines Day

24 comments:
At the office, where I worked, there was an angel there.
Her hair was long and flowing, and her skin was soft and fair.
I wanted so, to ask her out, but I was way too shy.
I thought she was too beautiful, for me to even try.
A few times I approached her, she just smiled and walked away.
I could not get the courage up, and "Hi" was all I'd say.

Kona & Refuge

20 comments:
In old Hawaii, if you had broken a law, the penalty was death. Perhaps you had entered into an area that was reserved for only the chiefs, or had eaten forbidden foods. Laws, or kapu, governed every aspect of Hawaiian society. The penalty for breaking these laws was certain death. Your only option for survival is to elude your pursuers and reach the nearest puuhonua, or place of refuge.

USS Missouri

We saw the beginning of World War II in yesterdays post and today's post has come full circle to the end of World War II. My father served as a sergeant in the US Army. God bless our service men and women. For those that have served and those that are serving, thank you.

A most somber experience. God bless our service men and women. For those that have served and those that are serving, thank you.

USS Arizona, a 31,400 ton Pennsylvania class battleship built at the New York Navy Yard, Brooklyn, New York, was commissioned in October 1916. After shakedown off the east coast and in the Caribbean, she operated out of Norfolk, Virginia, until November 1918, when she made a brief cruise to France.

The picture below is a couple that we recognized on the ship and thought they had been BC4 cruisers last year on the Glory.

When we finally talked with them they corrected us quickly by saying they are members of Stockton Yacht Club. Our club cruises into Stockton Yacht Club every May. What a small world.

Hilo Hawaii

22 comments:
Finally we see land on the 5th day and we are all excited about getting off the ship to explore Hilo. Coming into port was awesome as it had been so many days of just the ocean, a container ship and the air drop of blood.

We were back in civilization and it felt good, not that we minded the sea days.

Sea Days

26 comments:
Day two started four days of sea days. The photograph above was our first sea day and hubby found it necessary to take a picture of me on the balcony in my robe. Bless his heart. We had 2,300 miles of ocean to cover before we would cruise into Hilo, Hawaii. That's a lot of ocean to see and during that four days we found it very exciting to see this container ship passing us. Everyone was excited. After a bit there weren't any birds. There didn't seem to be anything but miles and miles of water. Well that's because all there were were miles and miles of water.

San Diego...

22 comments:
Hubby and I had a pleasant trip to San Diego and arrived around 5 in the evening and got checked in.

We had a beautiful view of the downtown area and had a great meal nearby.

We had some champagne on our balcony and just watched the world go by.

Towel Animals

27 comments:
All of you that know me knows that I love Carnival Cruise Lines and I especially love towel animals.

Every evening upon returning to our suite after a day of fun I looked forward to seeing what little critter (I called them my babies) would be waiting for us. Our room steward, Miss Novi, was kind enough to let me collect many many days of these babies. Here's just a few:

A Sad Homecoming

33 comments:
We're home safely and had a great time as well as a few frustrating times, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat. We came home and our dog Little Bit talked and talked telling us that she was so happy that we were home.

I've not looked at a computer screen since we left on January 19th. I decided to take a break from blogging and at the time it seemed like a great idea. Now? Not so much.

Day XVI

10 comments:
Today we are back in San Diego and we'll get off the ship, catch a shuttle to our Honda and then head home. Life is good. Thanks for coming along. I'll have some posts up about our trip as soon as we get the pictures downloaded. I'm sure there are many things I want to tell you so give me a few days and I'll do just that. Life is good.

Day XV

5 comments:
This afternoon we will be in Ensenada, Mexico. After a few hours stay here we'll head toward San Diego and tomorrow morning we should wake up in San Diego. I just love cruising on the big ships. Next year we are doing a back to back Mexican Rivera cruise. Empress Bee tells me there is nothing quite like doing the seven night cruise and when everyone is getting off the ship you stay for another seven nights. We even have the same suite for both cruises so we won't have to move. Life is good. WYWH.

Day XIV

This is our last sea day and tomorrow we'll be in Endenada, Mexico. After a few hours there we'll head back to San Diego. It's been a wonderful trip and we'll find tons of things to do today. We'll also probably take in another show and just enjoy all the entertainment Carnival Spirit has to offer. I wonder what kind of towel animals will surprise us after we return to our suite at night. We'll take a picture of every single one of them. Life is good. WYWH!

Day XIII

10 comments:
Another day at sea and another day of fun. I think the piano bar would be a great thing to do after dinner tonight. I sure hope we landed a great table in the dining room with really great people. I'm sure we have and we'll be as nice as we can be too. What to get nasty about when you are on a cruise? Nothing I tell you. Life is good. WYWH!
